Terms of use
Last updated October 31, 2026.
These terms cover nitpicks.net, the public directory, owner accounts, and paid placements. Using the site means you accept them. The privacy policy describes what the site stores.
The directory
nitpicks lists software and online services so people can compare them by category and by alternatives. Staff write category introductions, alternatives summaries, and comparison verdicts. A listing, a price, or a comparison can be incomplete or out of date. Check the product’s own site before you buy or switch.
Accounts
You need an account with a confirmed email address to submit a listing, claim one, or write a review. Keep the password to yourself. You are responsible for what that account submits. nitpicks can close an account that breaks these terms.
Listings and claims
A submitted listing starts as a draft. Staff publish it. You may claim a published listing by proving you control its domain. A verified claim is free. You can edit the draft of a listing you own. You cannot set its relevance rank, its owner, or its sponsored status. The public page should describe the product accurately, and you need the right to the text and images you upload.
Reviews and messages
A review is your opinion of a product. Staff publish it before it appears. You can edit your own review until it is published, and you can post one public reply on a published review of a listing you own. A lead goes to that listing’s owner and is not a public comment. Do not send spam, threats, or someone else’s private information.
Sponsored placements
An owner can buy a 30-day category slot, alternatives slot, or profile upgrade for a published listing they control. Payment is handled by Stripe. The slot is labeled Sponsored and is omitted from the organic list on that page. Organic order stays on relevance. When the placement ends, or staff revoke it, the slot comes down. A visit button may use an affiliate link. That page says so when it does.
Acceptable use
Do not break into the site, scrape it in a way that degrades it for other people, post malware, impersonate a business in a domain claim, or use the directory to mislead someone about a product. Staff can unpublish a listing, a review, or a comparison, and can remove a placement, when it breaks these terms or the product page is no longer reliable.
Liability
The directory is provided as it is published. nitpicks is not a party to a purchase you make from a listed product, or to a lead you send an owner. Questions about these terms go through the contact page.
